The event brings together the work of artists across Cornwall that explored the role of community spaces - past, present and future, through a series of workshops with inclusive art charity Shallal and Redruth Press. The project celebrates the bicentenary of Cornish activist and philanthropist Passmore Edwards who funded 70 public buildings across the UK, (mainly in Cornwall.) Edwards was a lifelong champion of marginalised communities and was passionate about making education and culture accessible to all. During this six-month project, we looked at the history of his buildings, what they are used for today and what we want our community spaces to look like in the future and celebrating the importance of Universal Design.
Thank you to intoBodmin and The Ladder - two beloved Passmore Edwards buildings in Cornwall for letting us explore and use your spaces for this project.
Thank you to our kind funders The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Postcode Local Trust and The Henry Smith Charity for making this project possible.
*The venue is accessible.
*There is an accessible toilet.
